Downsizing a family home takes more than a truck
Most senior moves we handle are not about distance. They are about forty years in the same house on the same street, and a new place with half the closet space. That takes patience more than muscle. Our crews slow down, work at your pace, and understand that the box marked "photos" matters more than the box marked "garage."
Aggie Movers Company is owned by Wailan Watsonand the crews he sends out are used to working with families who are handling a lot at once — a parent's health, a house that has to sell, siblings coordinating from out of state. We keep the moving part simple so you can deal with everything else.
We pack what you want packed and leave what you want to handle yourself. Some clients want the whole house boxed up by us. Others want to wrap the china personally and have us do the rest. Both are fine. Tell us where the line is and we will respect it.
Retirement communities, assisted living, and moving in with family
A move into a retirement community is its own kind of job. The new apartment is smaller, the building has rules about elevators and loading doors, and the furniture that fit the old living room may not fit anywhere. We work with that instead of against it.
- Downsizing moves — we help sort what goes to the new place, what goes to family, and what leaves the house, then load it in that order so nothing gets confused on the truck.
- Retirement and independent living communities — we handle the narrow hallways, shared elevators, and tight apartment doorways these buildings are known for, and we protect the walls and floors on the way through.
- Assisted living and memory care — smaller loads, quiet crews, and a fast setup so the room feels lived-in and familiar the same day it is unloaded.
- Moving in with adult children — we fit a lifetime of belongings into a converted bedroom or garage apartment, and haul the overflow to storage or to another family member's house.
- Long-distance family moves — relocations out to Houston, Dallas, Austin, or San Antonio when the family who will be nearby lives in a bigger city.
- Heavy and awkward items — pianos, gun safes, hutches, recliners, hospital beds and antique armoires that need two strong people and a real plan.
How a senior move with us actually goes
We start with a walkthrough, either in person or over the phone, so we know the stairs, the driveway, the big pieces, and the one dresser that cannot be scratched. From there we quote the job honestly — no vague estimate that doubles on moving day.
On the day itself, the crew introduces themselves, confirms the plan, and gets to work. Furniture gets padded and wrapped. Boxes get labeled by room so the new place unloads in order instead of in a pile. At the other end, we place the furniture where you want it, not where it lands. If the bed needs reassembling and the TV needs to go back on its stand, we do that too.
If the old house needs to be emptied for a sale, we can clear out what the family is not keeping and leave the place broom-ready. It saves adult children a weekend of hauling they usually do not have.
We move at the customer's pace. Nobody gets rushed out of their own house.
