Aggie Movers Company — professional Moving Services in College Station, TX

A pool table is not furniture. It is a few hundred pounds of slate sitting on a wood frame, held in place by gravity and a careful cabinet maker's patience. Drag it across a room and the frame racks. Carry it out in one piece and the slate cracks on the doorframe. Aggie Movers Company moves pool tables the way they were designed to be movedtaken apart, wrapped, hauled, and leveled back up at the other end.

Owner Wailan Watson has built the crew around the heavy, awkward jobs other movers would rather skip. Pool tables, slate-bed tables in fraternity houses, bar tables in a Bryan garage, the three-piece slate monster a family has had since 1974. If it is in your game room and you cannot picture how it gets out the door, that is the job we want.

Slate comes apart before it goes anywhere

Most pool tables sold in the last fifty years use either one solid slate bed or three matched slate sections. Either way, the felt has to come off the rails, the rails have to come off the frame, and the slate has to be lifted clear and carried flat. There is no shortcut. A table moved whole is a table that arrives with a hairline crack you will not see until the first bank shot rolls sideways.

We bring the tools to do it right — socket wrenches, staple pullers, slate dollies, blankets, and enough hands that nobody is lifting more than they should. Pockets, rails, and hardware get bagged and labeled so reassembly is not a guessing game.

How we handle a pool table move, start to finish

  • Walkthrough first. We look at the table, the doorways, the stairs, and where it is going, so there are no surprises on moving day.
  • Felt and rails off. Cloth is removed carefully. If it is in good shape and you want it reused, we handle it that way.
  • Slate lifted flat. Each section comes off the frame and gets blanketed and stacked upright on a dolly — never laid flat on its face.
  • Frame and legs wrapped. Cabinet, aprons, and legs are padded so the finish arrives the way it left.
  • Loaded with the weight in mind. Slate rides low and strapped. Nothing stacks on top of it.
  • Rebuilt and leveled. Frame set, slate seated and shimmed, seams waxed, rails torqued, cloth stretched and tacked back down.

Leveling is the part that separates a working table from an expensive piece of decor. We set it with a level across the slate in both directions and shim until a ball sits still wherever you put it.

From a Bryan game room to a Dallas den

Some of these moves are twenty feet — a table coming out of a dining room so it can go in the garage, or heading downstairs into a finished basement. Others are long hauls. We move pool tables locally around College Station, Bryan, Navasota, Caldwell and Brenham, and we run them out of the Brazos Valley to Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio when families relocate.

We cover 24 towns and cities across Central Texas and the major metros. See all 24 service areas for the full list, or just ask — if your pickup or drop-off is near any of them, we will tell you straight away whether we can do it.

We also handle the moves that come bundled with a pool table: the rest of the house, the home gym, the gun safe, the piano sitting across the room. If the table is one line on a bigger inventory, that is simpler for everybody — one crew, one truck, one trip.

If it has slate in it, it comes apart. That is the whole job. Everything else is just carrying.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you move my pool table without taking it apart?

We do not recommend it, and for slate tables we will not do it. The frame is not built to carry the slate's weight at an angle, and cracked slate is not a repair — it is a replacement. Disassembly is part of the service.

Do you re-level the table after the move?

Yes. Leveling is included. We seat and shim the slate, check it in both directions, and make sure a ball sits dead still before we pack up.

Will I need new felt?

Not always. If the existing cloth is in decent shape, we can usually remove and restretch it. Older cloth that is thin, stained or already stretched out is worth replacing while the table is open — we will tell you honestly which one you are looking at.

How many people does it take?

Enough that nobody is overloaded. Slate sections commonly run 150 to 250 pounds each, so we size the crew to the table rather than sending two people and hoping.

Can you move a table up or down stairs?

Usually, yes — that is exactly why we disassemble. Individual slate sections and a bare frame go through doorways and down stairwells that a built table never would. Tell us about the stairs during the walkthrough.

Do you move pool tables outside the Bryan–College Station area?

We do. Along with our local towns, we run long-distance moves to Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio, and points in between.
